For more than half a century, Ernest Langford, novelist and playwright, made his home in British Columbia where he wrote poetry, plays, short stories, and novels. In explaining how he worked, he always said that his imagination created a world of people who gave him no peace of mind until he brought them to life and revealed their essential truths. One reader has commented, “Male or female, young or old, his characters leap off the page.”
At the time of his death in December 2006, 16 novels had been published. His short stories have appeared in a variety of periodicals, and his plays produced on the stage as well as on CBC radio and television. His remarkable creative legacy consists of more than 100 literary works of astonishing originality.
